    Back in print! Superchunk has released Cup of Sand, their 2003 singles and rarities compilation on vinyl for this first time. The original CD packaging has been expanded for this edition to showcase Laura Ballance’s original paintings, and features expanded conversations with Mac, Jon, Jim and Laura about every track included—the ones they remember recording, anyway. The notes have been expanded to comprise the three additional songs from out-of-print compilations which have been added to this remastered reissue.

Thin Air – 1999, Electrical Audio, with Jim O’Rourke. Previously unreleased.

Jim: As of this writing it’s been a few years since I’ve heard this song, but I think this one is a peppy and brisk little number that we just couldn’t make fit with the other tracks on Come Pick Me Up. How’d I do?

Mac: We literally forgot that this song existed until I was going through the DATs to sequence this comp. Turns out, there was a reason we forgot! Peppy little number and some nice “ooh ooh”s but lyric-writing was last-minute, and the final result sounds tentative for such a high-energy number.

Laura: This one reminds me of Seaweed for some reason.
