about

Never Too Young to Smoke – 1995, Fort Apache, with Wally Gagel. Appears on the Hyper Enough CD5.

Jon: The other outtake from the Strings session. This might have been deemed too similar to “Sunshine State” to be included on the album.

Jim: More than any of the songs that eventually found their way onto Here’s Where the Strings Come In, this one, recorded at the same time, always brings back fond memories of our time at Fort Apache. We sure did drink a lot of Harpoon IPA. Thanks, Wally.

Mac: I think of this song as one of our first successful attempts to do a song that isn’t loud or fast but still sounds natural and unforced. Recorded during Here’s Where the Strings Come In sessions, and Wally made it sound nice.

Laura: Really good sounds. This song makes me sad. I used to smoke. I really enjoyed it, but now I am allergic to it, even secondhand. What are the chances that we could ban smoking at our shows?
