about

Fader Rules – 1995, Fort Apache, with Wally Gagel. Appears on the Lounge Ax Defense & Relocation compilation record.

Jon: One of only two outtakes from Here’s Where the Strings Come In. This song found a home on the Lounge Ax relocation benefit album. The drum pattern is completely lifted from Steve Earle’s performance on The Afghan Whigs’ “Miles Is Dead.” Tom Petty has yet to contact us regarding the “Here Comes My Girl” chord.

Jim: Listening to the song today, one might be forgiven for believing we came up with it merely to compete with one of those “Madchester” bands that were all the rage in the late ’80s/early ’90s. But then one would be wrong. By the way, this track still goes out to Julia and Sue and the entire staff of the sorely missed Lounge Ax club.

Mac: Hey if you’re going to rip off Tom Petty, you might as well rip off one of his best songs, and it’s just the intro so calm down. I think this song stems from studio cabin-fever.

Laura: This one has a lot of low end. It rumbles. If I had my way they would all rumble, but that would get old, wouldn’t it? I sewed a dress during this session.
