The original CD packaging has been expanded for this edition to showcase Laura Ballance’s original paintings, and features expanded conversations with Mac, Jon, Jim and Laura about every track included—the ones they remember recording, anyway. The notes have been expanded to comprise the three additional songs from out-of-print compilations which have been added to this remastered reissue.

Blending In – 1992, West Beach, with Donnell Cameron and John Reis. Previously unreleased.

Jon: A tribute of sorts to our hardcore roots. This one was originally recorded back in 1984 by the great DC band Government Issue. Our version was recorded during the On The Mouth sessions and marks the first ever Chunk vocal performance by Jim Wilbur. Have not heard this since we recorded it, and I must say I’m patting myself on the back for the surprisingly passable imitation I did of GI Marc Alberstadt’s drumming.

Jim: My throat never really recovered from belting this out. P.S. Hardcore still rules!!!

Mac: Joyride by Government Issue being one of the best hardcore records ever, it only made sense to end many of our shows with Jim taking over on lead vocals for this one. We captured Jim’s shrieking magic on tape during the John Reis-produced On the Mouth sessions, but it’s appearing here for the first time. Think of it as a palate cleanser.

Laura: I was never fully into hardcore. The Angry Samoans were about as hardcore as I got. But there is something exciting about playing music like this. Can I be in this band?
